A new story in northern Japan
Developed by Sucker Punch, Ghost of Yōtei follows Atsu, a lone mercenary hunting the six outlaws who killed her family. The story takes place in Ezo, northern Japan, in the 1600s, around three centuries after Ghost of Tsushima. PlayStation describes it as a standalone experience, so this is a new story rather than a continuation of Jin’s journey.
Exploration and combat
The game combines open-world exploration with close combat and a range of weapons. PlayStation highlights dual katanas, an odachi and a kusarigama among the options. If you enjoy samurai settings, story-led adventures and exploring landscapes between encounters, its premise is worth a closer look. This is a buying guide, not a scored gameplay review.
Physical disc: check your PS5 first
This Amazon listing and the supplied case image identify the physical PS5 game. You need a PS5 with a compatible disc drive to use a game disc. A PS5 Digital Edition without a fitted compatible drive cannot read it. Check your exact console model and drive support before buying; a digital download is a separate purchase format. This is not a PS4 game.
Check the edition and age rating
The supplied packaging carries PEGI 18. Check the age rating and content information when choosing it as a gift. The linked item is the original physical game listing; confirm the seller, condition and included content. Do not assume that another edition’s extras, download codes or expansions are included unless this exact listing explicitly says so.
Make room for installation and updates
Allow space on your console for installation and check the current game requirements before playing. Updates and downloadable content may have separate connection or account requirements. Compare the exact edition and format rather than choosing only by the cover image or a headline price.
